A rank holder throughout his educational career and a gold medalist from Utkal University, Sri Swaraj Mishra started his career as a Probationary Officer in State Bank of India in 1982 after a brief stint as a Lecturer in English in a Govt. College in Odisha. Though selected in ICS exams 1984 for Indian Defence Accounts Service, he chose to continue in the Bank. An all India rank holder in CAIIB Exams, he rose in his career in State Bank of India, handling important assignments in Odisha, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Tokyo, Japan. During his 27 year career in Bank, he handled assignments such as Credit Analyst at Bank’s Corporate Centre, Mumbai, Project Head of Bank’s IT Networking Project, Business Head of South Mumbai Region and Vice President, Systems and Internal Audit at Bank’s Tokyo branch, Japan.
Though he had 10 more years to go, he resigned from State Bank of India in 2009 and took a complete U turn in career to come back to Odisha. He joined the largest Media House of the State, Eastern Media Limited to pursue a career in journalism and social work. He became the Secretary of Aama Odisha, an NGO, which is a household name in Odisha for its pioneering work in the field of Voluntary Blood Donation. He conducted a popular Quiz show for school children ‘MU JANE MU JITIBI’ and a talk show with live audience, named ‘AAME JANATA’ on Kanak TV. A prolific writer and orator Sri Mishra has published 5 books for young children (Odisha Quiz, Cartoon Katha I and II, Babuna and Nua Abolakara Kahani).
He is married to Nandika Mishra and is blessed with two daughters.
